Tourist attractions
The choice of place for holidays is considerably influenced by the neighbourhood and its attractions which, regardless of the weather, guarantee memories that tourists take home. Luckily, our region abounds in often magical places which cannot be missed on the trail as they create the nature of the region and make hiking particularly attractive.

The pier in Międzyzdroje
The first wooden jetty was founded in Międzyzdroje in 1884. 1906 was the year of an official opening of the pier which, after the complete renovation, reached 370 metres of length and was named after Frederic III, a German emperor. Unfortunately, a storm in 1913 seriously disturbed its construction, and a year later, after World War I broke out, sappers from Świnoujście blew it up for fear of Russian landing force. Reconstructed after World War I, the pier was much shorter – only 200 metres. Subsequent storms devastated the construction of the pier so that it was finally closed in 1985 to provide security of tourists. Four years later, the pier was entirely demolished with only small stylish towers left; as late as in 1994 a brand new walking pier was put into use. The past is reminded of by the left towers, as well as a glazed meteorological case dating back to 1887, including meteorological equipment: a thermometer and barometer. The top four sides of the case constitute a symbolic day and night representation:
- a rooster– is a symbol of a beginning day, - a beehive – the midday, - a bat – an evening, - an owl – a dark night.

The Star Promenade (Promenada Gwiazd) in Międzyzdroje
The first Festival of Stars took place in the summer of 1995 initiating Polish Hollywood. Its most spectacular show has become the event of leaving hand impressions by celebrities. More than 80 artists have left there their hand impressions so far.

Bison reservoir
A reservoir founded in Poland in 1976. Great Polish monarchs had always hunted for these animals. Hunting in Białowieża Forest Władysław II Jagiełło was preparing his supplies for an expedition of the Teutonic Knights. Also Casimir IV Jagiellon and Sigismund I the Old hunted bison. As many as 42 animals were shot during one of such hunting in the reign of Augustus III the Strong. The queen herself killed 20 bison, reading a French romance meanwhile. For fear of the danger of bison extinction, king Sigismund I the Old issued a decree in which he threatened to kill anyone who will ever wilfully try to shoot a bison. After partitions, Alexander, the tsar of Russia prohibited cutting out trees in Białowieża Forest because of bison which led to a growth in their number which reached almost 1900 in the middle of the 19th century. Before World War I broke out, around 700 bison were still alive, however only 9 of them survived the war. In 1923 the Bison Protection Association (Towarzystwo Ochrony Żubra) was founded to regenerate the species on the verge of extinction. During a World Convention of the Environmental Protection Union in Paris, Jan Sztolcman, a Polish zoologist put forward a proposal in his speech concerning saving of bison species. Saving bison is an undoubted work of Polish scientists. Bison became the symbol of Poland in the world and was placed as a symbol in the emblem of Liga Ochrony Przyrody (the Environmental Protection League).
